Thank you for visiting our webpage and for your interest in our school! We hope this site can answer your questions, provide useful resources, and give a snapshot of Lexington High, where our students thrive in academics, arts, athletics, leadership, and service.
Over the past few years, we have all experienced a new normal. Through a global pandemic, we learned a lot about our own adaptability and resilience. We also had to adjust our approaches to teaching, learning, assessment, and the overall high school experience. At times, our students experienced the emotional unrest that results from change and uncertainty. Through the uncertainty, we have also seen beautiful examples of joy and generosity of spirit from our students. At LHS, we spend time reflecting, asking hard questions, and investing our energy into ensuring that our school models a commitment to empowering each child every day.
Lexington County School District One's strategic plan is centered around the "Lexington One Profile of a Graduate," a framework that defines the skills and attributes every student should possess upon graduation. This profile serves as a guiding vision for the district's mission to "guide all students to learn, grow, and excel."
The Lexington One Profile of a Graduate outlines nine key attributes that students are expected to develop throughout their education. These include:
-
Communicator: Students should be able to listen, speak, and write effectively for different purposes and in various formats.
-
Collaborator: Graduates are expected to work productively with others, offering and hearing different perspectives to enhance outcomes.
-
Creative Thinker and Problem Solver: The profile emphasizes the ability to create, test, and refine new ideas and solutions through inventive thinking.
-
Future-Ready Literate: This attribute focuses on using media and technology responsibly, evaluating information, navigating the digital world, and making sound financial decisions.
-
Independent Learner: Students are encouraged to take the initiative to set goals, monitor their progress, and persevere through challenges.
-
Knowledgeable: The profile stresses the importance of acquiring and applying rigorous academic content in meaningful ways.
-
Kind: This attribute highlights the development of empathy, thoughtfulness, and encouragement to support one's family, friends, school, and community.
-
Personally and Socially Responsible: Graduates are expected to act with personal accountability and seek opportunities for self-improvement.
-
Resilient: The profile defines resilience as demonstrating perseverance and adaptability, embracing feedback, and viewing challenges as learning opportunities.
The district's strategic plan aims to align its resources, curriculum, and culture to ensure that every student has the opportunity to develop these attributes. This comprehensive approach is designed to prepare graduates not only for college, careers, or military service, but also to be successful and contributing members of an ever-changing world.
Our students are brave, creative, and inspiring. They are gloriously diverse but share a common journey together as Lexington Wildcats. We hope that we can ensure each student has an experience that provides balance and a stable foundation in an exciting and constantly changing future, as we have done for over 110 years.
Stay tuned to our district and school websites and follow us on social media for the most current news. We will continue to advocate for each of our students, pushing them to be the very best versions of themselves, to proudly represent their families and cultures, and to work diligently to strengthen our collective community.
At Lexington High School, we will equip our students to honor their traditions, seize today’s opportunities, and design our future.
Hail to Thee!
