To connect people and ideas; to connect the arts and the sciences; to connect literature with social concerns, and to connect learning with overall wellness and human development. Along the way, we want WILDCATS to experience the pure joy that comes with discovering and creating new things to improve society.
Our Mission
Our mission is to nurture a deep appreciation for reading among all WILDCATS and to support the process of learning and knowledge generation. We aim to guide WILDCATS in evolving into discerning consumers and producers of information, with a focus on enhancing society through continuous learning. Our efforts align with the objectives outlined in the Lexington One Profile of a Graduate.
The Lexington High School Library saw a robust start to the academic year, recording nearly 9,000 student visits and substantial growth in material circulation in the first quarter.
By The Numbers
8,783: Total student visits to the library. (That's an average of over 140 student visits per school day.)
4,577: Books and materials checked out, indicating high demand for leisure reading and research resources.
118: Class visits hosted by the librarian, demonstrating strong integration into core curriculum planning.
Zoom In
The high volume of class visits suggests the library is being effectively utilized as a teaching tool, particularly for research skills and information literacy instruction. The circulation rate (4,577 items) compared to the visit rate (8,783 students) suggests almost one book checked out for every two visits.
Why It Matters
A highly trafficked library correlates directly with student engagement and academic support. These Q1 numbers establish the library as a critical hub for both instruction and independent student activity on campus.
What's Next
The library staff will focus on promoting new arrivals and tailored reading lists to maintain circulation momentum through the winter months. The high class visit count provides a strong foundation for deepening collaboration in Q2.
